winter

Hey, pause for a while …

Behold!
Not far, the winter treads

the leaves are shed like a carpet laid
Soon the earth, the sky will be just white and gray
… she rules
as far as you can see

The denizens reach out skywards
to catch the warmth
of the ever elusive sun
to nourish their frozen saps

As the sun shines past the clouds
they say … let us thaw a little …
and they reach out
to savour
the rare pleasures of touch
… the touch of warmth
